This week on our Taco Trail, we feature two Ridgeland favorites (one of which has a new location in Fondren) with some unbeatable taco deals. We can’t pick sides…which would you choose to satisfy your taco craving?
Mexikali Taqueria & Grill
862 Avery Boulevard
Tuesday – Saturday, 10:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. & Sunday, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Type: Asada, Pollo, Pastor
Price: 3 tacos + a drink for $10
Mexikali boasts an authentic Mexican/Columbian menu of items that have a loyal local following. The tacos I ordered featured savory barbacoa, tender pollo and perfectly seasoned carne asada. The owners are always friendly, informative and accommodating. They offer salsa verde, mild, hot and a super fiery habanero, all of which accentuate the flavors of the scrumptious tacos. Not feeling tacos today? Order one of their tortas or tamales, and don't forget the fried plantains!
Green Ghost Tacos
1290 East County Line Road
2820 North State Street
Monday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. & Sunday, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Type: Asada, Pollo, Marinated Pork
Price: $2.99 each
At Green Ghost Tacos, fresh, quality ingredients are combined with family recipes that have been passed down for generations, and the result is delicious. Made-to-order, you’ll basically build your own taco. Start by choosing between a homemade corn, flour or hard-shell tortilla. Next, choose your fillings, with options including everything from standards, like ground beef, to not-so-standards, such as pork marinated with pineapple. Definitely order the guacamole and chips and a horchata to drink. The empanandas and the carne asada fries are also yum. And whatever it is – always order the special. Green Ghost has two locations now, so check them both out.
