The Fourth of July is coming up! A day for remembering how this amazing country came to be, patriotism and great food. The celebrations aren’t hard to find in the metro area, but we’ve listed some to narrow your search down. These are a few we know you and the whole family will love.
Celebrate America Balloon Glow
Northpark Mall, 6 PM
This Friday, a twenty-eight-year long tradition continues: the opening event for the Mississippi Championship Hot Air Balloon Fest! Over twenty amazing hot air balloons will light up the sky over Northpark Mall. There will also be food, a kids’ carnival, live music and fireworks to end the night with a bang!
Mississippi Hot Air Balloon Race and Festival
City of Canton, 7:30 AM
Go enjoy hot air balloons flying high in the sky and fun events all day! There will be a balloon chase earlier in the day, food vendors and a movie following the firework extravaganza at 9 p.m.
Independence Celebration at the Rez
Lakeshore Park & Old Trace Park, 4 PM
Expect fireworks, food and patriotic fun in the parks at the Reservoir. There will be live music, kids’ zones, beer vendors, food vendors and so much more. Fireworks can be seen from both sides of the Reservoir!
Independence Day Super-Sized Fireworks Show
Trustmark Park, 5 PM
What’s more American than baseball? Hosted by the Mississippi Braves at Trustmark Park in Pearl, the fireworks show begins directly after the ball game.
Independence Day Fireworks Extravaganza
Smith-Wills Stadium, 5 PM
Jackson is hosting its first ever fireworks extravaganza this year! It’s happening July 3 from 5 PM to 9 PM at Smith-Wills Stadium. There will be food and craft vendors, live music and space jumps! There will be entertainment for all ages and, of course, an amazing twenty-minute fireworks show.
The Watermelon Classic
Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, 7:30 AM
This annual event starts at 7:30 AM on the Fourth with a 5k run/walk and a one-mile wellness/fun run. These events will be accessible and fun for the whole family and a great way to start the day!
Red, White and Blue at the Zoo
The Jackson Zoo, 9 AM
The Jackson Zoo knows the best way to celebrate: special prices! If you wear red, white and blue to the zoo on the Fourth, you’ll get a special entry fee of only $4.
Fourth of July Beach Party
The Outlets of Mississippi, 12 PM
Near the food court on the “sandy beach,” the Outlets of Mississippi will be hosting DJ Scott Steele of US 96.3 for this summer celebration. There will be beach balls and toys for the kids, and of course a lot of dancing!
Family Fireworks Extravaganza
Traceway Park, 5 PM
Troy Laz and the 2 Hipnotic Band will be headlining Clinton’s 30th Annual Family Fireworks Extravaganza. Celebrate our country's independence at this a family-friendly, fun-filled event. Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.
Fourth of July Fireworks Show
Liberty Park, 7 PM
Madison is keeping its Fourth of July tradition alive with a classic fireworks show. They will be having the show at Liberty Park at 9 p.m.
